The former, with their small diameters, enable capillary action of water in the soil. The latter, being larger, allow for drainage and water infiltration once micropores are saturated and facilitate air passage when macropores are not filled.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline; margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 12pt; padding-left: 0cm; font-size: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Soil TILLAGE: Understanding Compaction and Solutions<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The movement of agricultural machinery across fields causes a <strong>loss of porosity<\/strong> between soil aggregates, leading to <strong>soil compaction<\/strong>. Surface residue also <strong>protects the soil from erosion and the disaggregating effect of heavy rain<\/strong>, maintaining pore continuity and functionality throughout the soil profile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In conclusion, this article has discussed how soil tillage can lead to increased soil compaction.
